Computers don't create computer animation any more than a pencil creates pencil animation. What creates computer animation is the artist.

The Way Forward

Responsive Website Design

In today’s world of technology your client will want to visit your website with whatever device they currently have available, hence it is important for your business that a website is fully responsive. Regardless whether its a PC, tablet or smart phone your website needs to adjust automatically and provide the same functionality.

Responsive Web Design (RWD) is aimed at creating websites that provide an optimal viewing experience across a wide range of devices. Optimal viewing of a website includes easy reading and navigation with a minimum of resizing and scrolling.

Responsive Web Design

The Website & Design Development Process

It will start with a meeting to establish a brief of what you are looking for in terms of look and feel and functionality. I will also ask you a number of questions as well as look at your logo, stationary and marketing material. You may have some examples from magazines and websites of possible styles and colours you like. I usually will also ask you for some text content and images. I can either take content from your old website or you can provide me with text and image files. Once I am confident I have got all the information I need we continue to the design phase.

In this phase I will “play” with fonts, colours, shapes and images and design your logo or website. Depending on the original brief and discussion I may create various different designs. Once I am happy I will show you the designs and we will discuss them. We either tweak one that you have selected until its perfect or if you don’t like what you see I will start again and provide further designs.

This is the most important step and we will not continue until you are really 100% happy.

Briefing Questions

Design is the intermediary between information and understanding.”

Hans Hofmann

Once the design has been agreed on I will create the stationary and/or program your website, add the various functions and features as required and set up the full structure of your website. This may also require text and image input from your side depending on what I develop for you. We may have also some further meetings to discuss the progress of the development.

During the design phase I have established already certain options of how content can be presented on your website and/or marketing material. Now it is a matter of adding text and images to all pages. I will also set up forms and any other specific sections.

Testing and Proof Reading

Now its time to check that all functions, features and forms on your new website work as expected. I will also proof read the content and inform you of possible inconsistencies as well as make suggestions for improvement.

After I am satisfied with the functionality I will also ask you to proof read all pages and test forms and other functionality.

For print material I will ask you to conduct a final proof read and sign off of all developed material prior to sending it to the printer.

Since your website is getting closer to completion I will provide you with training on all the features of the Content Management System (CMS). In addition to the training session you will also find a Help section in the CMS that can be looked up at any time. The help section explains in simple terms all the features with text and images and also allows you to make your own annotations and/or adding help articles.

Printing (for marketing material)

After the sign off the marketing files these are forwarded to the printer. I will also provide you with a copy of all files for your records. Once printed I will double check the final material.

Launch and Handover

Until now your new website has been hidden to the public. Now I will make the necessary changes to show your new website to the world. Your old website will be taken down and your new website will be applied. I will check again the functionality to ensure everything works as expected.

This is also the time to handover the website to you. However I will always be available to assist you, should you have any questions or problems.

To ensure your website stays secure and up-to-date with all software, regular updates are recommended. Software updates are frequently provided for the various parts of your website and usually these fix known security issues. It is therefore important to stay on top of these updates. If you feel comfortable to perform the back up and update tasks you can do this yourself. If you rather have me completing this tasks, I will recommend a maintenance/service package to you based on your website functionality and complexity.
